6 • LMGI COMPASS | Winter 2024 CONTRIBUTORS LM Harriet Lawrence/LMGI UK location manager Harriet Lawrence has a passion for architecture, geography, geology and detail. Combined with a huge curiosity, it makes location managing the perfect job for her. Starting in commercials in the early 1990s, she soon moved into drama and independent UK films. She has found the moon on Earth, Scotland inside of the M25, the Maldives in a Heathrow hotel and Wolverhampton in Central Scotland. She loves filmmaking and the complex aspects of putting the practical logistics of a shoot together. Her credits include Suffragette, setting up the first series of Downton Abbey, The Personal History of David Copperfield and Essex Serpent. She recently wrapped on Emerald Fennell's new film, Saltburn. Since 2007, she has run the renowned Assistant Location Managers Training Course and relishes training the next generation of LMs. Chris Evans Chris Evans has been a film and TV journalist and editor for 25 years, covering locations and production, most recently as locations editor of Screen International and KFTV. He has lived and worked in many countries, including Chile where he was editor of the The Santiago Times. His experience there was tempered somewhat, though, by being chased to the office each day by rabid dogs! Evans enjoys interviewing a variety of people in the screen sector, from gaffers and location scouts to A-list directors and actors. He can take his hand to everything from snappy news stories to big reports on key trending subjects, like virtual production and sustainability. He's also easy to spot on location at two metres tall! Jen Farris/LMGI Jen Farris/LMGI is a native of Atlanta, GA, and has served as a film and television location scout for more than a decade with credits on a multitude of projects, including Atlanta, Game Night, Genius: Aretha, BMF, Average Joe, Dear Evan Hansen, Lovecraft Country, Sleepy Hollow and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. She is an active and proud member of Teamsters Local Union 728 and is a former LMGI Board member, as well as serving as Secretary. She believes that storytelling, in any format, is something to be held in high regard, and building the foundation of stories through location exploration and scouting is invigorating. Shaun O'Banion Shaun O'Banion is a Gotham Award-winning producer currently living and working in Prague, Czech Republic. He has written articles for Movie- Maker Magazine, Filmmaker Magazine, and is a regular contributor on Stage32.com Rachel Llewellyn Rachel Llewellyn is a media journalist, editor and corporate writer from Bakersfield, California—home of Jack Nicholson's freeway piano performance in Five Easy Pieces and near the site of the iconic plane chase in North by Northwest. She's written about arts and culture since college, when she got hooked on movie production after visiting a Tremors exhibit at the Museum of Western Film History. She's written for Girlfriends and Curve magazines, worked as a news producer, and is currently ghost- editing novels, copywriting for C-suiters, and contributing to Book & Film Globe.
