Supervising location managers
share their own stories of having
to leave projects…
HARRIET LAWRENCE/
LMGI – UK
I was let go from a very, very
big production. And to this
day, I'm not quite sure whose
knife was in my back. It was
down to someone who didn't
think I fit there and they
wanted someone different that
they'd worked with before. It
was a personality clash. But
yes, it hurts, especially as I
didn't think I did anything
wrong. You just have to
accept you won't get on with
everyone.

– SOUTH AFRICA & UK
I've only ever been fired
once. And that was for not
being a enough of the yes
man. And I will, you know, I
will never tell you that you
can do something if you can't
if it's not possible. Yeah. You
know, so, you know, you're
not going to own Piccadilly
Circus, and that sort of thing.
MANDI DILLIN/LMGI – US
I actually let myself go from
one job. I didn't feel supported
and the location manager
was having a lot of personal
problems and not giving me
the information I needed to
help them and do the job
properly.
PATRICK MIGNANO/LMGI
– US
I was let go from a project
many years ago. It was a no-
win scenario. I was really
stressed and lost like 25
pounds. I was not sleeping.
They weren't shooting
straight with me about the
amount of money available.
I told them I could try and
make it for the budget they
set, but to do what they
wanted would cost more.
After three weeks, we were
$100,000 over budget and it
came to a head. The producer
tried to bait me into having
a confrontation with him, so
he had reason to fire me. I
didn't take it and remained
professional. The production
manager then let me go saying
the movie was killing me. It
wasn't pleasant and I was
devastated.
