7 8 P E R S P E C T I V E | N O V E M B E R / D E C E M B E R 2 0 2 3 When I first heard about Silo as a project for Apple TV+, and knowing that Graham Yost was the show runner and Morten Tyldum was attached, it instantly became a very attractive and exciting project. I knew of the Hugh Howey novels, so I had an initial idea about the world that might need to be created. Concept As soon as the project started, the first challenge was to design and conceptualize the overall look and style of the silo. Ninety-eight percent of the story was going to take place in this mile-deep silo, and every set or environment would need to fit into this chosen architectural world. The creative team allowed a 6- to 8-week period of initial research and concept design work to come up with basic ideas and directions that might suit our Silo world, and Graham Yost, Morten Tyldum and I spent many hours on Zoom discussing every aspect of this environment.
