The team uses Blackmagic Cloud to connect and collaborate. "We moved everything to the cloud," says Salviche. "We just did two music videos for RCA Records with another of my directors. He came to LA, shot, went back to New York, and the editors were editing here in LA, and he was making changes in the timeline from New York. This system works flawlessly and it's very, very simple." Havoc Content will often work with Company 3 for color grading on projects, but at other times, will handle the grad- ing in-house, or have a colorist come and work in one of their suites. Salviche likes the idea of keeping the entire post work- flow within a single application, including editing, effects, audio and grading. He points to the USA Network crime drama Nova Vita as an example. "We worked with color on Nova Vita, the TV show," he recalls. "We edited everything in Resolve and then we had a team doing sound design, a team doing color, all in the same building. It was phenomenal to be able to share projects like that through our network server. Just staying in the same NLE, if I wanted to add a shot or change a shot from the show, or change my mind three weeks later…I can go back and we can re-color or extended the shot, touch and revise it fairly quickly. It just became so much more efficient." Efficiency that translates to less time moving drives; importing & exporting footage; and switching systems for color, scoring and editing. "When Fairlight came in, it became even better," he says of Resolve's audio capabilities. "And it just keeps getting better!" Blackmagic Design's pricing model for Resolve has also brought benefits. Resolve is available for free, and Resolve Studio costs $295, adding several performance enhancements, including DaVinci Neural Engine for automatic AI region tracking, stereoscopic tools, more Resolve FX filters and additional Fairlight FX audio plug-ins. Resolve Studio is also capable of advanced HDR grading. "I've stayed with them for eight years. I got the license when I paid for the camera," he states, adding that he did upgrade to the paid version of DaVinci Resolve Studio, which costs $295. "I've never looked back…Not only did I have my $300 dollars divided in eight years, but every update that comes is free!"
