Phoenix Classifi ed Employees also recently hit majority status. ey are the very fi rst local in the state to hit majority status among classifi ed employees! Classifi ed employees are education support professionals like bus drivers, paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers, IT experts, administrative professionals and more. As part of AEA and our local unions, classifi ed employees are fi ghting for higher pay, better working conditions, good benefi ts and a voice in our workplaces. The March to Majority Status Tempe Secondary! Kyrene! Marana! All of these locals have hit majority status within the last few months! Majority status means that more than 50% of potential members have signed up and joined our union. Majority status is a critical milestone in building membership and power. It gives locals much more leverage in bargaining and negotiating with their district, and it's a vital step on the road to growing AEA's membership to 40,000 people statewide.
