Philly Prez Attends Biden's Budget Remarks P resident Biden spoke at the Finishing Trades Institute in Northeast Philadelphia on March 9, and SAG-AFTRA Philadelphia Local President Nicole Izanec was in attendance alongside AFL-CIO members to hear his remarks. In his return to Philadelphia, Biden's speech outlining his administration's 2024 fiscal year plans and plans to invest in America — continue lowering costs for families, protect Social Security and Medicare, and reduce the deficit — were met with cheers from laborers in attendance. Philly Union Takes the Stage at Industry Fair A s part of a Women in Film and Media Colorado-hosted industry fair at the Colorado Film School on Jan. 21, SAG-AFTRA organized a talk titled Why SAG-AFTRA Is Essential to a Sustainable Film Industry. The discussion, delivered to a packed theater, examined the safety and pay protections provided by the union, the adaptive contracts the union has and continues to develop, content creation in the digital era and much more. The conversation was led by Colorado Local Board member Sheila Ivy Traister, assisted by Local Secretary Meg Chamberlain.
