Our delegates exhibited a deep sense of respect and consideration for diverse opinions and thoughts." Forward by Mike Beranek, ISEA president, mike.beranek@isea.org This past weekend, the Iowa State Education Association held its annual Delegate Assembly in Des Moines. The DA is an opportunity for our leaders to come together to discuss the important business of our union. The purpose of this email is to share with you the deep sense of pride I have for our organization. Our leaders met to have deep, purposeful conversations that allowed us to discuss and eventually approve several fundamental changes to our governance system. Your leadership representatives participated in a professional manner, allowing all voices the opportunity to be heard. Our delegates exhibited a deep sense of respect and consideration for diverse opinions and thoughts. The Iowa State Education Association is highly respected among other state affiliates, and we are often looked upon as an association that is a leader with purposeful, thoughtful, and progressive movement with an eye on the future of our organization and profession. The actions of the Delegate Assembly on Friday and Saturday have placed our union in a position that will truly be unique and will be the envy of many other state affiliates. You will be receiving numerous emails in the coming weeks that will require quick turnaround actions by you and your local leaders. When you receive these emails, please read them carefully and thoroughly. The actions required are time sensitive and necessary to better position our leaders for the next year. Thank you for what you do daily for your students, community, and union. I am deeply proud of you, your fellow leaders, and the entire ISEA staff.
