On August 27, 2022, the AEA Board
of Directors unanimously passed a
resolution calling for the establishment of
the President's Organizing Council. e
resolution is a bold and unprecedented
commitment to growing our union—
including the goal of reaching 40,000
members by 2026 by adding at least 5,587
new members a year.
e Council held its first convening on
December 9, 2022. ere was a packed
house of union education leaders at
AEA headquarters to hear from local
affiliates about their organizing work and
their progress towards the goals of the
President's Organizing Council.
