By controlling the palette, texture, lighting sources, a road map was laid out that all departments could follow for the cohesive world we were building, for Production Design, set decoration, cinematography, costumes, props... Once we had that map, we applied it to new sets and locations throughout the series, keeping the world cohesive. Beyer Field Beyer Field, the Peaches' stadium, is the center of the show's universe. It's where we see their failures and successes as a team and as individuals. It's the emotional home of the show. There were no period stadiums in Pittsburgh, where the production was based. The nearest was three hours away, too far for how often we'd need it—it's a baseball story, every episode had baseball. Also, it rains a lot in western Pennsylvania. We couldn't shoot on a rain day, and often couldn't shoot the day after, because the field was too soaked. Adding unpredictable weather to difficult logistics, we realized that our only option was build our own stadium. The series needed a field with enough room to build the stadium, ticket booth entrance, parking lot and concession stands. At first, we tried to find something urban, where we could see a neighborhood and feel part of the city, but none of the urban fields had sufficient space around them. A.
