In 1977, Denering shifted focus to the entertainment field, starting as an apprentice Scenic Artist at CBS Television City in 1978. From there, he moved to the Center Theatre, as well as Mark Taper Forum and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, painting stage scenery. Independent scenery shop L. Grosh & Sons hired the talented young Denering to paint backings and murals for Disney's Epcot Center, along with several operas and stage productions. The love of motion pictures led him to J.C. Backings in 1983, and from there, to the Warner Bros. Scenic Art Department, where he spent thirty years creating backdrops, billboards, murals and trompe-l'oeil art for over one hundred feature films. During this time, Michael had the opportunity to work with many highly skilled artists, as well as talented and award- winning Art Directors making movie magic. Ghostbusters, Lost Boys, Dracula, Batman, The Green Mile, Spider-Man, Lethal Weapon, What Dreams May Come, Jurassic Park, Planet of the Apes, Iron Man, The Pursuit of Happyness, Pirates of the Caribbean, Charlie's Angels, Seven Pounds, Transformers, Lemony Snicket, Diehard and Star Trek are just a handful among of his many accomplishments. In 2013, he started an eight-year relationship with Fox Studios, painting their outdoor stage murals.
