Photo: Kelly Serfoss Mulling over what to write for my first official President's letter, I want you to know your new board has hit the ground running. With 17 very active committees work- ing full tilt, a dedicated board and staff, I'm happy to re- port everyone is focused on the same goal: fulfilling the needs of our membership. A bit of what we're up to and our recent projects: Our Pay Equity team continues its awareness and outreach campaign. Researching possible equity partnerships, we have several exciting meetings scheduled. We look forward to reporting back to you soon. Valuable negoti- ation tools are available on the Pay Equity website link. Your involvement is essential. Stay alert to any projects, productions, press or exhibits not crediting our mem- bers appropriately. Contact us so we can follow up and address the issue. "We all rise together or not at all. Be the change you want." Doug Boney flew to Utah to observe an on-set safety is- sue for several of our members. I also followed up with the team, and we're happy to report all is well. Safety is paramount. Don't hesitate to let us know if and when you have concerns. Treasurer Nanrose Buchman and I attended costume designer Tom Bronson's memorial service. I worked with Tom over the years, and spoke with him not too long ago. We were surprised and saddened by his pass- ing. His memorial was exactly what I think Tom would have loved—stories, heart-felt love, and hilarity. Watch for announcements via email and In the Know, as we present individual committee town halls, starting with our Illustrators. These town halls are especially valuable for our out of own/state/international mem- bers. We want all our members to have a voice and be included. Plans to offer several fairs in the new year include: "Meet the Vendors and Studio Services," "Get to Know our Committees," and a "Know Your Fabrics Workshop," hosted by International Silk & Woolens with guest custom-made shop owners to be announced. Try A Gd In solidarity, Terry Ann Gordon tgordon@cdgia.com Upcoming events include our Holiday Party hosted at the Guild with Western Costume Company on Decem- ber 10th. We hope to see you there—come kick-back and catch up. Please bring an unwrapped toy for our Cal Fed Toy drive, and don't miss the raffle table. Stay tuned for information about our 25th Awards Gala. Celebrat- ing the amazing work created this past season, wear your most exciting design and don't forget, everyone is #nakedwithoutus! Participating in the Legacy Committee's terrific retire- ment symposium, I look forward more participation from our younger members in the future. Important in- formation was covered for all ages. It's essential for your financial future that everyone understand how MPIPHP determines your hours, IAP and pension. Please ac- cess the retirement panel on our YouTube channel and check out the "Legacy" link on our website for more valuable info. I spent several days updating our Studio Service/ven- dors info. The current information is now available on our website. If you find omissions, please let us know so we can include everyone. Congratulations to Brigitta for spearheading a fun and successful "All In" IATSE PAC event. With the election behind us, thank you all for your sup- port and encouragement. It was a race well run. Special thanks to Deirdre Breithaupt and her election com- mittee. A time-consuming task, their job is never easy. Volunteerism is a time and energy commitment and we applaud those who step up for all of us. Congratulations to our newly elected board members, delegates, and trustees—an extraordinarily balanced group of both experienced and fresh new voices. I look forward to an exciting and productive term with this team. And last but not least, I must recognize and praise our entire dedicated Guild staff without whom nothing would be accomplished. Team-players, essential to our Guild's progress and stability, they deserve our sincerest gratitude. Thank you all! 9
