we set the right views, he would then paint over the renders adding a level of realism that brought life to the illustrations. Because time was of the essence and this would be the largest build on the film, Supervising Art Director Troy Sizemore did an amazing job working two sides of the country to build the necessary parts to quickly expedite the construction of the temple. In Los Angeles, Troy worked with DeRouchey Foam, who manufactured and cut parts on their 5-axis mill while in Atlanta, he managed a team of ten sculptors who were taking on the more detailed designs not fit for computer printing. In conjunction, construction coordinator Curtis Crowe and his team of propmakers built the bones of the temple and as the weeks went by, foam parts started arriving from LA, followed by the detailed hieroglyphs carved by our Atlanta team of sculptors. Lead scenic Shannon Black and her talented team of painters then worked tirelessly to detail and dial in the vast real estate of crumbled and weathered ruins. With a final layer of VFX set extension, we completed this environment in a record-setting time frame for Mayan Temple construction… I mean, if that was a thing…pretty sure we set a record. Epilogue This is where our story ends…at least for now. For the many talented individuals involved, I would like to acknowledge and thank all the artists and craftsmen it took to realize the art of Day Shift. In two locations over six months, buoyed by the incredible support from JJ, the producers and Netflix, we all came together and contributed to the final look that made up this unique world of vampire hunters.
