my ideas and pushing to help make them better. Having worked as an editor, that's partly the role I play for the director, so I enjoy this kind of process. "One of the essential shots we had to figure out in the holding chamber was how to show all the different degraded versions of Caleb in one shot. Of course, we could lock-off the camera and use a split screen effect—which we ultimately did—but we wanted to plan an even more impactful shot for the reveal. We decided to do a shot that pans from hero Caleb to all of the other Calebs in the holding chamber, allowing the audience to experience the reveal the way the character experiences it. Because of the setup time and expense of a motion control rig, we settled on using a curved dolly track which we could use to repeat the move ourselves very carefully, and it worked. In the end, having a complete set of storyboards for this sequence allowed me to plan the day in the holding chamber very carefully, making use of hand and body doubles to perform some of the close-up action in the holding chamber while Aaron was getting his makeup changes."
