www.postmagazine.com 22 POST SEPT/OCT 2022 DISGUISE LAUNCHES CLOUD SOLUTION FOR M&E MARKET LONDON — Disguise (www.disguise.one) has launched Disguise Cloud, a new suite of cloud-ready applications for the media & entertainment industry. Available on a free starter plan, Disguise Cloud is built to enable end-to-end remote collaboration across any M&E production. Whether it's for simple video playback or a complex project with 3D files, Disguise Cloud seamlessly con- nects remote clients to technical operators and directors on-set. "Our goal is to simplify the creative process and allow artists to tell inspiring stories," explains Niall Thompson, head of cloud solutions at Disguise. "After years of helping cre- atives leverage realtime concert visuals for artists like J Balvin and Guns N' Roses, LED volumes for the biggest film and VFX studios, and live broadcast graphics on Eurosport, MTV and ITV, we know that ambitious productions aren't possible without remote teams who can work together." Disguise Cloud helps eliminate duplicate files and disjointed workflows that come when using cloud tools from different providers. All the apps a team may need to store, preview and review high-resolution media, tag content and leave comments on projects in the cloud are provided in one platform. To ease col- laboration across time zones, Disguise Cloud will soon also ensure media files can be shared more securely, with support for built-in passphrase protection, multi-factor authentication, expiration links and watermarking. The Cloud platform offers a unified Disguise login, enabling one-click access to all of Disguise's cloud services, as well as Disguise Designer software for visualizing, designing and sequencing projects. Cloud Login offers multi-fac- tor authentication as standard for added security and lets users access the Disguise Cloud using their existing social login credentials. Disguise offers a free starter plan, which includes up to three seats of Disguise Drive, 10GBs of storage and access to Disguise Designer software. More comprehensive subscriptions are also available, including the Pro ($49 per seat/month) and Studio ($99 seat/month). ARCHIWARE OPTIMIZING STORAGE VIA DATAINTELL INTEGRATION MUNICH, GERMANY — Archiware GmbH, an expert in data management software, is integrating with DataIntell, the provider of universal storage and data analytics solutions, to increase storage efficiency. Moving files that have not been accessed in months from production to long-term archive storage increases cost-efficiency. With the new integration of DataIntell and Archiware P5 Archive, unused files can now easily be identified and migrated into long- term archive storage for preservation. DataIntell's (https://dataintell.io) analytics solution provides an overview of data and storage utilization for SAN, NAS, DAS and the cloud. Insight into data changes over time, file duplication and used space help improve storage effi- ciency and transparency. In particular, a key feature includes identifying unused files, or "cold data." Archiware (www.archiware.com) P5 stores files on disk, tape or in the cloud. The P5 Archive module offers MAM-like features, including thumbnails, proxy clips, customizable metadata fields and menus. For maximum flexibility, the recently introduced Data Mover provides policy-based moving and copying of archived data between storage mediums. Where P5 takes care of the backup, replication and archive to protect all files, DataIntell offers automatic monitor- ing over the complete storage landscape. "Many companies struggle with the difficulty to identify unused data on their storage," explains Olivier Rivard, CTO of DataIntell. "Since DataIntell already can identify unused files on any storage, it was a logical consequence to connect it to P5 Archive to complete the workflow and move files from production stor- age to long-term archive storage. This increases storage usage efficiency and supports building a concise archive with all completed projects." STORAGE storage XENDATA'S CX-10 PLUS APPLIANCE BACKS UP CLOUD STORAGE WALNUT CREEK, CA — XenData (www.xendata.com), the provider of highly scalable data storage solutions, has released the CX-10 Plus, a cloud archive appliance with local backup to LTO data tape. The appliance connects to a local network and provides a fast gateway to unlimited cloud object storage. Content written to the cloud is mirrored to LTO data cartridges, creating a local backup copy for greatly enhanced data protection. This saves money, as it is an alternative to paying for geo-replication from the cloud provider. If there is a need to move to a different cloud provider, files can be restored from the LTO backup, avoiding expensive egress fees. The appliance is optimized for media archives, allowing users to play video files directly from the cloud. Furthermore, it has proven integration with many complementary media applications, including media asset management systems. The CX-10 Plus provides a fast connection to cloud object storage by using multi-threaded archive and restore operations, even when transferring a single large video file. It supports multiple clouds and cloud storage tiers, The CX-10 Plus is now available with a price starting at $11,950, excluding the managed LTO drive or autoloader.
