C4D users can now access production-ready features, like V-Ray Enmesh, the new procedural clouds sys- tem, and V-Ray Decal, which can project anything (3D stickers, labels, weather- ing elements, stains, etc.) onto any surface. Enmesh is a new system that repeats geometry across the surface of an object in the most memory-efficient way possible. With Enmesh, artists can treating geometry like a texture, creating patterns like panels, fences and fab- rics that are ready for close-ups. Enmesh is easy on the memory, allowing users to add billions of polygons to a scene without compromise. Procedural Clouds have been added to the V-Ray Sun and Sky system, elim- inating the need to settle for a static HDR or a cloudless sky. Artists can now customize their scenes, taking full advantage of ray-traced lighting, ground shadows and volumetric effects as they animate. Updates to particle rendering support allows users to now quickly render particles based on different parameters, such as size, speed and color. This is helpful when creating a wide range of effects, including splashes, foam, bub- bles and sparks. Users gain a wider color palette with an industry-standard ACEScg color-en- coding system, complete with automatic adjustments for textures, dispersion, sun & sky, and light temperature. Artists can fine-tune the scale and depth of their designs/HDRI renders with the V-Ray Dome Light's new, more flexible ground projection capabilities. The output of V-Ray's Interactive Production Renderer (IPR) is now identical to the production renderer, so teams can make better decisions in the moment. And with the new energy compensation up- dates, rough metals and surfaces will look more realistic. Additional improvements include better translucent materials, the ability to explore and edit panoramas in the V-Ray Frame Buffer without the need for third-party tools, and a new proportions layer that makes it easy to pick the right camera angle with the help of visual guides. V-Ray 6 for Cinema 4D is available now for Windows and Mac OS, and is compatible with Cinema 4D versions R21 to 2023. All V-Ray subscription plans work for all supported host applications. GLASSBOX TECHNOLOGIES RELEASES BEEHIVE 2.0 LOS ANGELES — Glassbox Technologies, the developer of virtual production software, has released BeeHive 2.0, an upgrade to its collaborative, all-in-one, realtime change management solution for Unreal and Maya. With enhanced, realtime version control, support for multiple levels in UE5, and for specific Unreal asset types, BeeHive 2.0 lets virtual production teams — on-set or remote — more easily visualize and collaborate on realtime content without interruption. The new version is available to download as a free 30-day trial (www.glassboxtech.com). A new Asset History tab in BeeHive 2.0 allows teams to access and roll back to previous changes on a per-asset basis, in realtime. This simplifies the process of doing multiple takes in a non-destructive way. BeeHive 2.0 now fully supports working with multiple levels and sublevels in Unreal Engine, ensuring all connected users and nDisplay cluster nodes receive a live, realtime view of the current session, as well as ensuring content is intelligently distributed locally or remotely on a "need-to-receive" basis. In Maya 2023, BeeHive 2.0 will display all the elements on all open levels and allow users to apply edits, unrestrict- ed. Multi-level support is available in all BeeHive usage modes, including simple editor-to-editor, nDisplay/PAK mode, and play in editor (PIE). The new release introduces dedicat- ed support for the full range of Unreal Engine assets — Unreal Lighting, Lumen, Landscapes and Foliage — with full interoperability with Maya. Maya editors have access to these asset types in the form of static mesh proxies that can be edited at the vertex level, just like other scene components. BeeHive 2.0 also ensures proper handling of objects with non-ascii names through dedicated support. All asset types, including those newly supported, are available for use in all BeeHive usage modes, including simple editor-to-editor, nDisplay/PAK mode, and PIE. To make content distribution as quick and seamless as possible, BeeHive 2.0 automatically detects and makes use of Windows File Share when the local network allows sending files locally via Network Sharing. When available, Windows Network Share is the fastest option for local network file transfer. BeeHive 2.0 can be purchased as an annual subscription. Perpetual license options and floating licenses are also available.
