www.postmagazine.com 6 POST MAR/APR 2022 BITS & PIECES NEW VFX/POST STUDIO PARIAH OPENS SANTA MONICA, CA — Pariah is a new, full-service VFX and post produc- tion studio founded by VFX supervisors Patrick Murphy & Glyn Tebbutt, and managing director Mark Tobin. Just prior to their official launch, the tudio completed work on campaigns for Expedia and Gatorade. The Pariah team's collective portfolio spans work for Apple, Taco Bell, Facebook and Zocdoc, including collaborations with directors Michel Gondry and Jai Moseley, as well as 72andSunny and Stink. The jet-setting spot for Expedia, stars Ewan McGregor and was direct- ed by Lance Accord via Park Pictures. It debuted during the NFL's champion- ship game. The company followed that up with a spot that's part of Gatorade's "Fuel Tomorrow" campaign, which pre- miered during the NBA All-Star Game. The commercial features Candace Parker and Damian Lillard, and was directed by Wesley Walker of Tool of North America. "It's a fantastic start that some of our long-standing creative partners have entrust- ed us with bringing their vision to the screen on such noteworthy projects right out of the gate," states Murphy. Tobin, who most recently served as CEO of technology company Arraiy, had a hand in launching and spearheading growth for many large creative studios in Los Angeles and New York. A seasoned business strat- egist, he has a track record of pioneering expansion and scaling growth for VFX powerhouses, including MPC, Psyop, a52 and Method. Tebbutt has worked at creative studios across London and Los Angeles, and brings a background in design and motion graphics. Pariah's team also includes head of production Michael Steinmann, Flame artists Fed Saccone & Gretchen Capatan, CG supervisor Mike Wynd and graphics artist Diego Binatena. The studio will collaborate closely with sister company Exile Edit, headed by editor Kirk Baxter and managing director CL Kumpata. FORMOSA GROUP ACQUIRES NOISEWORKS LOS ANGELES — Post production sound facility Formosa Group (https://formosagroup.com), which is part of Streamland Media, has acquired London-based The Noiseworks Limited. The acquisition expands the company's interactive division in the UK in terms of both creative sound design services and talent. Noiseworks' credits include sound design and music for numerous high-profile in eractive and linear projects. The company was incorporated in 2017 and has worked with a number of game developers, advertising agencies and filmma ers, including Electronic Arts, Sony, Microsoft and Creative Assembly. David Philipp, who served as Noiseworks' managing direc- tor/supervising sound designer, will now act as Formosa Interactive UK studio head. BAFTA- award-winning sound designer Byron Bullock will assume the title of creative director of Formosa Interactive UK. "We are excited for the Noiseworks team to become an integral part of Formosa Interactive," says senior vice president of Formosa Interactive, Paul Lipson. "Their outstanding work and talent are simply undeniable. This acquisition is another step in Formosa Interactive's commit- ment to offer worldwide support with unsurpassed service driven by the brightest talent." "Byron and I are extremely excited to become a part of the Formosa family, supporting game developers around the world," adds Philipp. "Our team's goal has always been to set the quality bar as high as possible and we couldn't be prouder to continue this ethos by heading up Formosa Interactive in the UK. Formosa Interactive services include sound design, cinematic mixing, music, voiceover and engine integration & implementation for developers and publishers of every screen and platform.
