www.postmagazine.com 10 POST JAN/FEB 2022 BITS & PIECES PICTURE SHOP TO OPEN DAILIES FACILITY AT PINEWOOD STUDIOS LONDON — Picture Shop (www.pictureshop.com), which is a part of Streamland Media, will open a new dailies facility at Pinewood Studios, just west of London, in early 2022. The new lab will offer a full range of dailies ser- vices, including four grading rooms; opportunities to collaborate with creatives from Pinewood's theatres; and secure, high-speed connections to a cloud- based content management and collaboration system. The new lab will be led by Picture Shop head of front-end services (UK) Chris Barrios, who previously led dailies operations for Picture Shop in Los Angeles. Barrios brings more than 20 years of post production experience to his new role, including dailies processing, color, engineering and facility management. "Picture Shop Pinewood will bring a global network of tal- ent and technology to the historic Pinewood Studios lot," says John Fleming, UK managing director for Streamland Media's Picture Shop. "Based on the growing need for front-end produc- tion support, we are building an innovative dailies facility to serve our clients at the highest possible level in an ideal location." Picture Shop's nearly 4,000 square-foot space at Pinewood will initially be able to run up to 10 projects concurrently under studio-level security proto- cols. The facility will be securely connected to Picture Shop locations around the globe, offering access to the company's talent pool. Streamland's Pulse will offer filmma ers a cloud-based collaboration tool with a worldwide reach. Some of Picture Shop's recent credits include Black Widow, Operation Fortune, Andor, Willow, His Dark Materials and Aladdin. AVID'S NEW NEXIS|EDGE EMPOWERS REMOTE WORKFLOWS BURLINGTON, MA — Avid (avid.com) has extended the power of its collabo- rative post production solutions with the introduction of NEXIS|Edge, a new software option that enables post teams to work from any location, delivering secure, remote access to media and metadata. NEXIS|Edge was previewed at the HPA Tech Retreat in Rancho Mirage, CA, earlier this month. The new tool allows video editors to work concurrently on the same content, sharing metadata and media on Avid NEXIS from anywhere. Project and bin metadata can be shared by editors. Media content can be automatically converted to lightweight streaming formats, enabling realtime remote editing over a standard internet connections. Media can also be down- loaded remotely by editors for disconnected operation. Producers and other team members can readily browse and review content using the NEXIS|Edge Web Client, while assistants can accelerate editing work- fl ws by finding media, o ganizing projects, editing clips and storyboarding sequences. For editors using Adobe Premiere Pro, they can access NEXIS|Edge with the Premiere Pro Editing Connector. The new release integrates directly with Media Composer|Enterprise, en- abling centralized, role-based administration. Using simple, web-based tools, administrators can easily control access to content and editing tools. With Media Composer|Enterprise, each team member can have a customized user experience.
