However, it's not just about honors and statues, but giving back to the entire SAG-AFTRA community through the show's annual benefiting charity, the nonprofit SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Many do not know that proceeds from the annual SAG Awards show and its sponsors (see page 63) help to maintain the SAG-AFTRA Foundation's vital safety net for SAG-AFTRA's 160,000 members, which has been more critical than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic.
