BITS & PIECES www.postmagazine.com 7 POST JULY/AUG 2020 UK'S PIP STUDIOS OPENS WITH 6 ATMOS STAGES BERKSHIRE, UK — Audio post production facility Pip Studios (www.pipstudios.com) is now fully open, offering Dolby Atmos capa- bility from its six, purpose-built stages on its site in Winnersh, Berkshire. Co-founded by Ally Curran, Mark Sheffield and Nigel Bennett, Pip will offer audio localization services and ADR for feature films, television, gaming and stream- ing clients. The six Atmos stages are all Dolby certified and equipped with 24-fader Avid S6 mixing consoles. They are well suited for both theatri- cal and home entertainment mixing. In addition to Dolby equipment, the stages are equipped with gear from Level Acoustic Design, Westwood Joinery, HHB Scrub, Bell Theatre Services, AKA, Wire Broadcast and Jigsaw 24. "The COVID-19 pandemic delayed our official opening by a month, so we used that time to further refine the facility," explains Nigel Bennett, who serves as chairman of Pip Studios. "Happily, we were able to keep building it out with only minor delays on certain materials. The UK production sector has lacked Atmos capacity for a while and opening these six stages now is perfect timing as production starts to ramp up again." "We have designed a facility that meets the needs of our clients, whilst ensuring the space is adaptable for a variety of audio work and new business," adds Ally Curran, who will serve as director of operations. "As a completely new and independent facility, we are also able to offer highly-competitive rates, as well as being agile and responsive to client needs." The three founders alone bring a vast reser- voir of experience to the new studios. Curran was studio manager at Deluxe. Mark Sheffield, who will serve as director of creative services, was director of audio operations at Deluxe. And Bennett continues to serve as managing direc- tor of Molinare. He was also creative services director at Pinewood Studios. "Through our reputation we have been able to bring on board a highly experienced and well-regarded crew to service our clients work," notes Sheffield. "We might be new and the facilities might be fresh out of the box, but ev- erything is driven by experience and expertise, and we can offer them the assurance that their content is in safe hands." BUTTER MUSIC AND SOUND LAUNCHES MULTICULTURAL DIVISION LOS ANGELES — International music and sound collective Butter Music and Sound (https://www.gimmebutter.com) has launched a new multicultural di- vision that will work closely with agencies and brands on campaigns crafted toward US Latinx consumers. The collective has tapped musician/recording artist James Zavaleta to serve as executive producer for the new venture. Zavaleta has partnered with agencies and brands as a consulting mu- sic producer on a range of branded projects, overseeing the entire audio process, with an eye towards the authentic cultural representation of Latinx music. He is also an experienced and versatile singer, songwriter and produc- er, with credits that range from singing on ABC's Dancing With The Stars, to recording over 30 national jingles, and contributing voiceover musical work on Disney/Pixar's Academy Award-winning film Coco. "I've always been drawn to commercials through my work as a vocalist," he explains. "I recorded my first spot with Butter in 2012. We just vibed so well that after eight years of working together, this next phase feels organic. I'm excited by the opportunity to fuse my musical background with Butter's, and bring authenticity to the multicultural ad space." "We are so thrilled to officially bring James onto the team and gain his expertise and insight," adds West Coast EP, Annick Mayer. "When James and I started talking about this partnership a few months ago, all the pieces fell into place effortlessly. He has been an unofficial part of the Butter family for years now, so the progression couldn't feel more seamless!"
