In her new role, she will oversee bidding and incoming productions, as well as new and existing relationships with directors and production companies. Ford brings deep expertise in business develop- ment and sales, as well as a diverse and rich background in both the produc- tion and post production industries. She joins the VFX, design and animation studio following a successful run of representing an array of talent and heading her own company, Friends of Ford. Her roster there included Stept Studios, Good Company, Flavor, London Alley and Nylon Studios, to name a few. ELIZABETH LAFERRIÈRE Animation and design studio Fern in Atlanta is now representing Montreal-based visual artist Elizabeth Laferrière in the United States. She will serve as a direc- tor and art director, available to Fern's roster of clients. Laferrière, whose decade of experience includes working with clients in music, television, publishing and the arts, is known for creating surreal images through collage. As a director, she will oversee all aspects of projects, including scheduling, developing teams, storyboarding, working with sound designers and supervising music composition. As an art director, she will work as part of a team, incorporating her visual style on projects. BRANDY TROXLER Creative editorial boutique 1606 Studio in San Francisco has hired editor Brandy Troxler as part of an effort to grow its talent pool. Troxler has worked in the Bay Area for more than a decade and has edited spots for Mini USA, Yelp, Toyota and Texas.gov. Most recently, she was an in-house editor at San Francisco agency Heat. Troxler joined Heat in 2019 after six years at Beast Editorial. A graduate of Elon University in North Carolina, she also worked at Footpath Pictures in Raleigh-Durham, and Barbary Post in San Francisco. In her first project with 1606 Studio, Troxler edited a PSA for International Women's Day by UN Women, a United Nations organization working for global equality. JOSHUE OTT Experience design firm Hush in New York City recent- ly welcomed Joshue Ott as director of technology. Having previously built the AR and interactive tech- nology company Interval Studios, and most recently working at experiential agency Fake Love, Ott brings valuable experience from a career at the intersection of design, technology, music and art. Ott will now lead Hush's team of creatives and technologists, and integrate his approach into the earliest aspects of the company's creative process. He's developing a robust experiential prototyping practice, which is focused on discovering new approaches to creative technology. DAVE GOODBOURN UK-based Pixit Media, a provider of data man- agement solutions, has hired VFX expert Dave Goodbourn, who will serve as head of workflow development. The appointment strengthens Pixit Media's workflow consultancy services, helping clients manage their data more efficiently and harness cloud technologies for remote working, global collaboration, scalability, archiving and business continuity. Goodbourn has over 20 years of industry experience, including complex VFX pipeline design and delivery in the cloud. Most recently he served as head of systems at Milk VFX. As part of Pixit Media's broad technical team, he will share his frontline expertise with customers, providing consultancy to design and build efficient on-premises remote and cloud workflows for VFX and post production. JERRY DU London's Ncam Technologies, the developer of realtime augmented reality technology for the media and entertainment industries, has appointed Jerry Du business development director for the APAC region. The appointment will support Ncam as it continues to extend its presence in this key region for film and television production. Du brings over 35 years of industry experience and market knowledge to the role. With early practical experience as a TV engineer and a VT operator and editor, he has spent the past two decades leading companies in GM roles. Following two years at Philips DVS China and three years at Pinnacle Systems China, Du led Vitec Group Production Solutions Division China for 16 years, handling brands that include Vinten, Sachtler, Oconnor, Litepanels and Anton Bauer. He was responsible for driving sales growth and transformation in a highly-competitive market. PASSING: JIM HOUSTON The Hollywood section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) announced the passing of long-time member Jim Houston. A 34-year veteran of the enter- tainment industry and SMPTE fellow, Houston held senior engineering positions with several studios and prominent post production facilities, including Sony Pictures Entertainment, Pacific Title & Art, Walt Disney Feature Animation and, since February of this year, Samsung Research America. A pioneer in motion imaging standards, computer animation and digital restoration, he won two Academy Awards for Scientific and Engineering Achievement. He died from a heart attack on March 26th in Pasadena at the age of 61.
