75 SAG-AFTRA | Spring 2020 | sagaftra.org Commending Casting Directors A delegation of SAG-AFTRA elected leaders joined prominent casting directors, actors and a bevy of Hollywood professionals in honoring the year's most outstanding casting in films and television programs at the Casting Society of America's 35th Annual Artios Awards. These awards are unique in that they are celebrated across the nation and overseas, with ceremonies in Los Angeles, New York and London. Honorees included the casting directors for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, The Lion King and Toy Story 4 as well as television winners The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Game of Thrones, When They See Us, Queer Eye, Live in Front of a Studio Audience and To All the Boys I've Loved Before. ● A Word from Alfred Molina R enowned SAG-AFTRA member Alfred Molina discussed his career, the business and the importance of the union with SAG-AFTRA L.A. Conservatory Committee member Michael Bradley at a conservatory panel at SAG-AFTRA Plaza on Nov. 26. Molina, whose film career began with a role in Raiders of the Lost Ark before he became a household name for his work in film, TV and on stage, praised the union for its support throughout his career. Attendees had a chance to ask Molina about his entry into the world of entertainment and the course of his career, and he emphasized the importance of resilience in pursuing your dreams. ● T he films Ford v Ferrari, Toy Story 4, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Marriage Story and Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Diane Warren were honorees at this year's Made in Hollywood Honors. An initiative of the Los Angeles City Council, the honors were organized by L.A. City Council member Mitch O'Farrell and hosted by several entertainment organizations. The ceremony salutes projects that are filmed and produced in California and Los Angeles. Honorees are feted at a special ceremony at City Hall in Downtown Los Angeles. SAG-AFTRA L.A.
