Some of this year's recipients included Hollywood favorites Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and Renée Zellweger, and standout performers like Joaquin Phoenix and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. A highlight of the evening was the cast of South Korean foreign-language film Parasite receiving The Actor ® for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, a first in the awards' history. "Thank you, my brothers [and] my sisters. This means so much more than I can possibly fathom," said Pitt as he accepted the award for Male Actor in a Supporting Role. "I want you to know that I watch everything. I watch you all; and the work has been mesmerizing." In her remarks to fellow actors and colleagues, SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris spoke about the importance of art during times of crisis and change. "Tonight, as we lift our eyes to the larger world around us, we must recognize, as a community and a country, how important it is to listen to each other and to speak our truths, not only in our stories but in our lives," she said. Other honorees included the cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Crown as well as the stunt ensembles for Avengers: Endgame and Game of Thrones. The SAG Awards provides critical funding for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation's emergency financial and medical assistance programs, career-building workshops and much more.
