AS SOCI AT ION G OV ER NA NCE Elizabeth Slaine I have been an active member and champion for education and for the rights of students for over 12 years. I have worked on many campaigns, served on local, state, and national committees and teams that advocate for quality education. As a woman and a minority, I am a strong proponent for promoting and advancing minority involvement. As a teacher, I see how state policies effect my students and co-workers. I teach at a school with a high minority and low socio-economic status populations, and they are the first to feel the constraints. If elected, I will work hard to support both my fellow educators and the students we are entrusted with. I have extensive experience working within AEA and do not have other large association obligations that can dilute my attention to being your Region 1 director. Education is going through some radical changes and educators' voices need to be part of that conversation.
