AS SOCI AT ION G OV ER NA NCE AEA TREASURER Nidia Lias First, I would like thank all of our members for the support I have received as your AEA Treasurer over the last three years. AEA has seen some tough times lately. We have seen legislative decisions that have impacted our profession; but in AEA fashion we have chosen to challenge unfair legislation and have won. AEA has encountered a membership decline which in turn has impacted revenue. Even with the legislative obstacles that we face in Arizona our locals continue to organize and engage members; we do not give up or give in. AEA and locals continue working together to strengthen our membership, engage our community and have become involved in our political process. It makes me very proud to be an AEA member. As Treasurer I have collaborate with our locals, members and AEA Board of Directors. I chair the Finance and Revenue Committee and work with our AEA Officers as we bring forward budget recommendations. I have had opportunities to work with many State Affiliates and learn from one another as we face challenges in public education nationwide. I'm proud to be part of this organization and I want to continue the work. I want to finish what I started. I ask for your support in my final term as your AEA Treasurer.
