Many of DC's major attractions are free like the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial to name a few, and many are within walking distance of one another. Other free attractions include the National Museum of African Art, National World War II Memorial and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Ford's Theatre's is one of DC's premiere destinations to explore the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln. This working-theatre is the site of Lincoln's assassination with artifacts related to his death including John Wilkes Booth's derringer pistol. Upcoming productions include Fly, based on the Tuskegee Airmen. The Walter E. Washington Convention Center is the premiere gathering place for meetings and conventions including the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation held each September. This 2.3 million sq. ft. facility has over 700,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space. The northeastern region is a vast land of culture and heritage. It's the epicenter of this great country.
