Brown Jr. recently appointed Kish Rajan as director for his Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) executive team. He brings to the job a nearly 20-year career of creating successful outcomes in both the private and public sectors. After graduating from UC Berkeley, Rajan began his public sector career on Capitol Hill as an aide to United States Senator Barbara Boxer and then later at the California State Capitol as a campaign aide to Phil Angelides who went on to become California State Treasurer. After a successful stint in the public sector, Rajan built a 14-year career in the private sector as a business development executive in the rapidly emerging mobile technology arena. He built and managed vital business partnerships that lead to the creation of hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars of shareholder value. While building this successful business career, Rajan earned a JD, started a family, and settled back in his hometown of Walnut Creek, CA. In 2008, Rajan brought his political and business experience to local politics and was elected to the Walnut Creek City Council. As a council member, he became a regional leader in advocacy for economic development, transportation improvements and education. In 2012, Governor Brown appointed Rajan as the GO-Biz director. Rajan works closely with the Governor's Senior Jobs Advisor Mike Rossi to lead the executive team in streamlining services for business leaders and enhancing job creation, economic development and international trade statewide.
