My primary concern when
considering a film project focuses
on whether it has a story with
engaging characters and a director
with a concept for how that story
should unfold in tone and feel. Rian
Johnson is an idealised version of
the sort of director I enjoy working
with—one who is also sole author of
his films. I credit Kathleen Kennedy's
vision and belief in Rian's talent that
she entrusted him with this sequel
to The Force Awakens. I find it a
rare experience in our industry that
the excellent story Rian pitched to
me three years ago has emerged
virtually unaltered in the release of
The Last Jedi.
