The model was drawn in 1/2" scale using AutoCAD, and the art was rescaled in Photoshop. The backings pictured in the model are from the J.C. Backings catalog. Joelle has recently completed a furniture construction class in which she built a full-sized version of the coffee table pictured in this model. Left: LILLIAN KATE ALFIN JOHNSON (Class of 2018) is currently in her third year at UNCSA filmmaking, majoring in Production Design with a focus in set decoration and scenic painting. Ms. Alfin Johnson utilized SketchUp, AutoCAD and Adobe Photoshop to design this storefront for her third-year practicum, FOGS OF WAR, set just outside of Paris in the late 1940s. The design is inspired by two bookstores in Paris, Shakespeare & Company and the Librairie la porte étroite. Above and right: JONATHAN McCARTER (Class of 2017) was born and raised in nearby Charlotte, NC. He heard about UNCSA's filmmaking program through friends and shortly into his first semester, knew Production Design was the career for him when he designed a third-year film. Jonathan has served as a set decorator, prop master and special effects coordinator but mostly finds himself in the Art Director spot. Due to his passion for this position, he has developed his skills in Photoshop, Lumion, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Illustrator and is working on Unreal Engine, a complete suite of game development tools. The model for his fourth-year thesis film, THE HAREM OF HARRY JAVIER, was designed in SketchUp. Pictured are a comparison of a set still and the pre-vis model. Also, pictured: the milk bar. Although he loves his home state, Jonathan plans to expand his geographical horizons and work in Atlanta or Los Angeles after graduation.
