This month, we chatted with John Murphy, who was recently named Chief Sales Offi cer at Sambazon. He was previously Senior VP of Sales & Customer Marketing at Seventh Generation. TP: How would you defi ne Sambazon's culture and what attracted you to it? JM: Sambazon is about letting your soul shine and living beyond the ordinary . . . or as I like to say, living the extraordinary! This is what drove Ryan, Jeremy and Ed to create the business in the fi rst place. Three guys travel to Brazil, discover açaí and the wonders of the Amazon ecosystem and return to the U.S. with a plan to sustain what they discovered through a triple-bottom-line business: people, planet and profi t. I also love the idea of moving beyond juice to real food nutrition. Sambazon offers superfood nutrition with powerful antioxidants, healthy omegas, fi ber and vegan whole food proteins—all organic and Fair Trade–certifi ed. TP: What advice would you give to job seekers looking for their next role? JM: Find your passion. Don't settle for a job . . . live the extraordinary! TP: If you weren't sipping a Sambazon Freshie, you would be drinking . . . JM: Anything produced by Antinori…26 generations of winemaking and it's hard to go wrong. 14 / the tasting panel / august 2012
