Back To School 2015 | wyoea.org 21 Free: Online Course: "Introduction to Tribal Education" This free course was developed as a primer for those interested in learning about the complexities of tribal education systems. The Tribal Education Departments National Assembly (TEDNA) partnered with the Region VIII Equity Assistance Center at Metropolitan State University of Denver to support the development of this introductory level, free, online course with the intent of providing the general public with a forum to learn about some of the basics regarding tribal education systems. https://www.coursesites.com/webapps/Bb-sites-course-creation-BBLEARN/ courseHomepage.htmlx?course_id=_301099_1 Full Range of Training Opportunities Available You may not think about it often, but every school district in Wyoming has military-connected students, most with needs unique to their situations. Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) offers a wide range of professional development training seminars and online courses for the educators and caretakers of those students. Topics include school transitions, children with special needs, and college readiness – all are available for any caring adult concerned about the welfare of our military-connected children and youth. WDE Writing Workshop Tues.-Wed., December 8-9, 2015 Cheyenne, WDE Office, Hathaway Building (2300 Capitol Ave.) Using Wyoming's writing prompts, the WDE Standards and Assessment Teams will offer a 2-day professional development workshop. During this session, participants will systematically score and norm student papers in order to inform quality writing instruction. Participants will first need to administer the selected Wyoming writing prompts (two per grade level) to students and submit writing samples. All writing prompts used MUST have all student names and other personally identifiable information removed to ensure confidentiality. Submit samples and register no later than November 20, 2015.
