Back To School 2015 | WEAnews 12 Cheyenne Teachers Education Association (CTEA) held their first BEWM bazaar the beginning of August. As the 2014 – 2015 school year was winding down, many veteran teachers helped donate items for the bazaar. Experienced teachers felt that this event really helped them connect with the new teachers in their building, and it helped them make room for new curriculum materials in their classrooms. There was not a shortage of donated items! Several teachers answered the call to donate. Many ideas were implemented to advertise the event. CTEA worked with the school district to send out flyers through the district e-mail system to make sure all teachers and administrators were aware of the event. Flyers were distributed to several popular downtown locations. Advertisements were run in the LCSD #1 Public School Chronicle and a free local paper. The Cheyenne Teachers Facebook page ran continuous reminders for veteran teachers to donate their used items. Knowledge Bound (the awesome teacher store in Windsor, CO) donated several brand new items from their recent sidewalk sale to the event. We had active and retired members help with the event. Shawn Courtney (California Casualty) was there to help new teachers understand the benefits they receive and help them carry out boxes to their cars. Higher education members even answered the call to store our leftover items for next year's bazaar! It truly takes everyone coming together to make an event like this happen. The new teachers who attended the event in early August saw many of the same faces at new teacher orientation in mid-August. These teachers were eager to chat and thank our members for the wonderful items they received at the bazaar. Several of the bazaar attendees became members of our association during orientation.
