Sponsored by THE TASTING PANEL, the annual tour showcases a selection of Double Gold–awarded wines and spirits from the 2014 San Francisco International Wine Competition and the 2014 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, two of the most widely recognized competitions in the U.S. Winning a Double Gold at the San Francisco Competitions is no easy feat. During the judging, panels of our industry's most distinguished palates blind taste through flights of wines or spirits, deciding whether the contents of each glass is a true representation of its varietal or spirit. Given only information on vintage, variety and proof, all judges on the panel must unanimously award the product a Gold medal in order for it to win a Double Gold medal. With a record breaking 4,570 wines and 1,474 spirits entered, the stakes were higher in 2014 and the Double Gold win sweeter. "Our 11-city national tour is a unique opportunity for Double Gold winners to boast their prestigious win across the country," says Chandler Moore, Managing Director for both competi- tions. "The San Francisco Competitions Double Gold Tour celebrates the best of the best, and we are proud to offer our Double Gold winners this added bonus exposure to the trade and press."
