DEPARTMENT HEADER Results of the 2010 San Francisco International Wine Competition On behalf of all of us at THE TASTING PANEL, congratu- lations to the winners of this year’s San Francisco In- ternational Wine Competition, the largest and most prestigious wine judging event in America. This year nearly 4,200 wines were entered from over 1,200 wineries (including 392 new winery participants), repre- senting 20 states and 29 foreign countries. Our 46 highly- qualifi ed judges convened at San Francisco’s luxurious Hotel Nikko in mid-June to spend the weekend swirling, sipping and spitting. The Competition is ably run by our excellent San Fran- cisco–based sta≠ and their many dedicated volunteers, un- der the leadership of Managing Director Chandler Moore and O∞ ce Manager Dottie Bridge. My thanks go out to everyone involved, as well as to the many wineries who entered the judg- ing, again making the Competition a rewarding experience for all. Due to space constraints, we are listing here only the Premium Award winners and the 153 Double Gold and 290 Gold medal win- ners. For complete results, including listings of our Silver Medal and Bronze Medal winners, go to www.sfwinecomp.com. —Anthony Dias Blue, Executive Director THE TASTING PANEL Magazine Winery of the year the hogue cellars André Tchelistcheff Winemaker of the Year bob iantosca, gloria ferrer winery Portfolio of the Year constellation wines u.s. 98 / the tasting panel / august 201 1
