AROUND AEA
Participants also had an opportunity to
have fun and socialize. Several legislators met with members at the AEA Legislative Reception to discuss local education issues. Afterwards members partied at the annual AEA Casino Night to raise money for the Education Improvement Fund (EIF). The AEA EIF is a separate fund set aside to educate voters and the public about issues related to quality public education. Funds have been used to support or oppose ballot measures such as Proposition 301 in 2000 and Proposition 106 in 2006. Public and voter education expenditures are allowable using local association or AEA dues revenue. Over the course of the three days, participants raised over $15,000 for EIF. ✒
