I belong to the Association be- cause in Arizona, education is constantly un- der attack. My dues pay for our amazing lobby- ists and officers who go down to the capitol to fight for a high-quality public education for Arizona’s children. Jeanne Simons, Creighton EA member WHAT IS BEING SAID ABOUT… Belonging to the AEA I’m glad I belong to the Association because I am a member of a com- munity of educators united in the same goal. There are colleagues and friends on whom I can rely for support and commit- ment to what matters most – our students! Rachel Stafford, Gilbert EA member I always know that I am not alone; I have hundreds in my local, thousands in my state, and millions in the nation all fighting for the same thing – quality education! I would not walk into my classroom without the security my membership provides. Cat Thompson, Chinle EA member I belong to the Association because it re- sponds to my core beliefs about education with action. My Association is the leader of education issues and educators. Katie Barnes, Tempe Elementary EA member I was taught that you shouldn’t complain about things you don’t like unless you’re willing to be part of the solution. I see great things in Dysart Unified Schools District; however, there are changes to be made. I want to be a part of the change. I want to have a say, and I want to be in the know. Even if I wasn’t an officer, I would still be a member so my voice can be heard and I can help the district and state move forward. Virginia S. Nesbitt, Dysart EA member I’m glad I belong to the Association be- cause it gives me a voice inside the politi- cal structure of Arizona for the students that I teach. It shows I walk the walk as well as talk the talk. In addition, it allows me to join with three million other voices to be heard in Washington, D.C. The Association also provides profession- al development and additional benefits. Plus in today’s setting of lawsuits, false accusations, iPods, cell phones, and cam- eras, who is there to fight for you but the Association? I would never walk into a classroom without AEA and NEA standing with me. Lenny Reed, Chinle EA member
