SUMMER 2014 | WEAnews Great Things Happen Every Day is sponsored by The Wyoming Highway Patrol As mentioned in past WEA News issues, WEA was awarded a $9,000 grant from the National Education Association (NEA) to use for Read Across America activities in Wyoming. The WEA partnered with our retirees and other organizations, such as the Legislative Spouses Organization, to conduct reading events in numerous locations. In the past few months, President Kathy Vetter logged thousands of miles travelling the state and was able to visit over 30 schools as "The Cat in the Hat." She is looking forward to continuing the WEA Cat-a-Van over the next three years. SIEA Cleans Up Cheyenne Greenway The Cheyenne Specialists In Education Association (SIEA) started off the month of May by cleaning up a portion of Cheyenne's greenway. Volunteers used their Saturday to fill numerous bags with trash from an area of the greenway they adopted. After the cleanup, the group enjoyed a barbeque with volunteers. "PAY IT FORWARD DAY" Comes To Wyoming, Thanks To WEA Member Cat-A-Van Drives Across Wyoming "I have enjoyed reading all of the letters I have received from students across Wyoming, and it has been a very rewarding experience to be able to perform 'The Cat in the Hat' for the different schools and classrooms in Wyoming," said President Vetter.
