SUMMER 2014 | wyoea.org 9 2014 Delegate Assembly The Wyoming Education Association held its 82 nd annual Delegate Assembly in Cheyenne at the Little America Hotel and Resort on April 3-5, 2014. WEA business was conducted over three days, including professional development for this year's attendees. 2013-2014 Membership Awards Increase in Membership Natrona County Misc. EA Sweetwater EA Grab 3 (or more) Natrona County EA Crook County EA Specialists In EA Student Wyoming EA Increase in Membership & Grab 3 Lander EA Riverton EA Albany County EA Goshen EA WEA Local #1 EA National Education Association Vice President Lily Eskelson Garcia addressed delegates during the opening morning of the Assembly. Delegates donated two cars' worth of supplies for this year's charity, Cheyenne's Community Outreach. WEA Professional Issues Director Kathy Scheurman held a professional development session regarding Wyoming's accountability statutes. Doreen McGlade & Chuck Denny step up to the microphone during the general session. WEA BEWM (Because Education in Wyoming Matters) members raffled off t-shirts during the Assembly to raise money for the Jane Smith Memorial Stipend. BEWM is the WEA Millennial group aimed at young-member engagement and recruiting and retaining Millennials in the WEA. For the first time in WEA elections history, WEA Communications Director Coleen Haines video taped candidate speeches, and later uploaded them to the WEA YouTube page for members to view. WEA Central/ Northeast UniServ Director Judy Trohkimoinen runs the live auction as WEA President Kathy Vetter watches. WEA Government Relations Director Ken Decaria, along with UniServ Director Dave Holt and Membership Organizing Specialist Greg Herold, "model" some of the live auction items.
