TVLogic debuts new monitors B URBANK— TVLogic (www.tvlogicusa. com), a designer and manufacturer of LCD and OLED HD displays, is launching several new monitors at the NAB show this month, including the TDM-243W 24-inch and TDM-473W 7-inch. Both are 2D and passive 3D LCD panels that feature a passive micro- polarizing filter attached to the LCD panel. The TDM-243W and 473W can both accept multiple 3D signal formats (3G, dual link L/R, filed sequential and side-by-side HD-SDI), as well as a wide variety of SD and HD digital and analog video formats. Designed for editing facilities, the M16 ($13,950) uses the company’s 3RU 328|MXE chassis and ac- cepts up to 32 input channels of analog, mic-level, AES-format and SD/HD SDI signals, routing to eight analog/digital outputs. Additional outputs can be added in either analog, digital or SD/HD SDI-embedded formats. The new unit was developed by expanding Renegade’s eight-channel Blue|328 and Gray|328 digital audio mixers, which use smaller control sur- faces. Designed for edit-system control in linear edit suites, the M16 com- municates to any edit controller with ESAM II protocol via an RS-422 serial port. Video-centric operation is enhanced by separate rows of buttons for program or preset assignment of audio to the faders, along with an edit system-controlled preview switcher. The Auto To/From feature allows easy access to all 32 inputs under edit control, eliminating the need to switch banks or recall registers during edits to access more inputs. Renegade shows edit suite mixer RASS VALLEY A 240x64 status LCD shows mixer status info and handles system set-up. An optional 640x240 color LCD provides metering. A USB port handles register storage and software upgrades. 54 Post • April 2011 www.postmagazine.com OLSOM, CA— GunMetal Industries (www.GunMetal.tv) has introduced a new 3D camera series called Pipe Bomb. The pro- fessional HD-based 3D camera system uses distinct dual-camera (left eye/right eye) recording in an extremely small package. The company sees the product as a more flexible alternative to the higher-priced and bulkier dual-camera rigs currently on the mar- ket and feels Pipe Bomb is well suited for shoots that pose environmental hazards to the camera operator or equipment since Pipe Bomb allows crews to deploy multiple 3D cameras in locations that would otherwise present production challenges. The unit shoots 3D in HD at up to 60fps. Based on the Contour HD camera platform, Pipe Bomb 3D systems are simple to operate and are modular in that each camera can be replaced if damaged. Pipe Bomb CQB (“Close Quarters”) is the first release in the series and consists of a two-camera system that’s priced at $2,795. GunMetal says the CQB is designed for shoots in vehicle interiors and close-ups.
