The sprawling Bien Nacido Vineyards in the Santa Maria Valley is recognized as one of California's greatest vineyards. The Miller family purchased the property, part of an old Spanish land grant called Rancho Tepusquet, in 1973. The vineyard, which now covers more than 800 planted acres, is home to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and has the added distinction of being the first vineyard in California to grow coolclimate Syrah. Our hosts were Marshall, Nicholas and (not pictured) Stephen TB Miller, whose family owns Bien Nacido and French Camp Vineyards. october 2013  /  the tasting panel  /  111 TP1013_104-152.indd 111 9/23/13 10:34 PM
