COMPETITION Make Your Best Shot! THE JIGGER IS UP: HERE ARE THE RESULTS FROM CHICAGO, FIRST STOP OF THE HARLEM SHOT COMPETITION photos by Tori Soper T his is the first mixology competition sanctioned by the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Anthony Dias Blue deemed that HARLEM was such a unique spirit, that it deserved some special attention. Equally, the “shot movement” is on the rise and has evolved past the one-ingredient stage. Here was our plan to combine the two to challenge bartenders from seven cities to show us the future of the artisan shot. Our first winners are Judges’ Choice Mike Miller from Delilah’s in Chicago (far left) pictured with Fan Favorite Adam Garvanian of McFadden’s Chicago (far right). On Miller’s right is Bill Bach, Central Division VP/Nolet Spirits and Mike Mallory, Regional Mgr/Nolet Spirits. 90 / the tasting panel / october 2010
