Christina Bailey as Suzanne Lenglen Privileged to be the very first Costume Designer cooperating with Tennis Channel, CD Lenka Padysakova designed 1920s costumes for The Goddess, a documentary about extraordinary French ten- nis player Suzanne Lenglen, played by Christina Bailey. Her crew was small and felt like a family. Their days were organized and well planned, partially due to an unusually long prep time that allowed Padysakova to concentrate on every detail of the costumes, down to a lucky charm that Lenglen wore while playing tennis. "Director Heath Woodlief was a dream to work with," says Padysakova. "Such a kind and friendly person with exact ideas of how he wants his proj- ect to look. Coming from live television, planning and fast decisions are crucial for him." Locations included the outdoor red clay Quincy Tennis Club established in 1887 in Quincy, Massachusetts, on land once owned by John and Abigail Adams, and at the famous Interna- tional Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, where Suzanne Lenglen was inducted in 1978 as a Master Player. This documentary was shown during the live broadcasting of the French Open in Paris and also during Wimbledon in London on the Tennis Channel.
