SUMMER 2019 | ADVOCATE 7 Around AEA Delegate Assembly AEA2019 Delegate Assembly KEEPING THE PROMISE KEEPING THE PROMISE KEEPIN THE PROMIS AEA2019 Delegate Assembly KEEPING THE PROMISE KEEPING THE PROMISE KEEPIN THE PROMIS AEA Members Get Down to Business at Delegate Assembly Nearly 500 elected delegates attended the AEA Delegate Assembly held May 10 – 11, 2019, at the Scottsdale Resort in McCormick Ranch. AEA members elected in local association elections attend this annual two-day meeting to debate and vote on Association business, bylaws, and resolutions. Visit the AEA website at arizonaea.org to view new business items passed. The event was highlighted by the Salute to Excellence Awards luncheon, which recognized AEA members and friends for their extraordinary achievements. See page 10 for a list of winners. Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman gave the keynote address during the Assembly. Attendees were excited to hear from one of their own leading the department of education. Delegates heard from Phoenix Union High School District Classroom Teachers Association member and 2019 Arizona Teacher of the Year Kareem Neal.
