LMGI COMPASS | Winter 2019 • 11 The Meeting Place for International Production Held at London's Business Design Centre, this year marks The Location Guide's fourth FOCUS event, featuring more than 150 expert speakers, participants from more than 60 countries, and a very high profile from the Location Managers Guild International thanks to Georgette Turner, Ken Haber, Mick Ratman, Harriet Lawrence, Tom Davey and James Davey. The LMGI was well represented with a popular booth in the middle of all the action. There was a steady stream of people interested in learning more about the Guild—lots of prospective members and business partnership interest. Participation at such a globally marketed event featuring members from the UK, US and Canada (thanks to Board member John "I will go anywhere" Rakich) left no L-R: Harriet Lawrence, Andy Buckley, Kate Seymour, Harriet Hodgskin doubt in attendees' minds that we are truly an international collaborative. Our UK members did us proud, participating on several well-received, standing- room-only panel discussions. Location pro Georgette Turner on the "Eyes Half Shut" panel addressed unsafe working conditions stemming from overly long hours. "This Is My Story" featured location manager panelists Harriet Lawrence, Kate Seymour, Andrew Buckley and Harriet Hodgskin who regaled a full house with their tales from the location trenches. Georgette Turner perfectly sums up the event: "We were overwhelmed by the success of the booth and the way the LMGI is being received globally. With many inquiries and requests to set up a European branch from location managers based in Croatia, Estonia, Poland, France and all over Europe, it's clear the LMGI is an organization that works for everyone." Compounding wage increases go up three percent in the first year of the agreement, followed by and additional increase of 2.5 percent in the second and third years. Additional points of the newly ratified contract include: increased percentages in individual account pension plan to eight percent, 10 percent defined pension increases in 2021 retroactive to January 1, 2017, car allowance increases, on-call pension hours increased for sixth and seventh days worked, and a new wrap allowance for assistants, as well as a new Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. Former location manager, Local 399 Business Agent Ed Duffy, comments, "We would like to thank the Steering Committee for their participation in the negotiating process, our Local 399 members who voted and our Local 399 staff for their hard work during negotiations. We look forward to three more years of continued employment and prosperity for our membership." All terms of this new three- year pact, including wage and benefit increases are retroactive to August 1, 2018.
