The solarium and Isaac's workshop were shot at a practical location in Atlanta—an abandoned mansion originally built by one of the heirs to the Coca- Cola fortune. Behind the house is a secret garden, where Jonathan plays his saxophone and practices his magic. This is the setting of Lewis's induction to the world of magic, in a sequence where the garden and the constellations in the sky come to life and envelop him. Because the scenes in the garden take place at night and shooting hours with Lewis were limited, this set was built on stage. This allowed for the adaptation and reuse of the garden elements, first transforming them into the cemetery, where Lewis raises Isaac from the dead, and then into the Black Forest, where young Isaac meets the demon Azazel.
