SUMMER 2018 | ADVOCATE 11 ESProfessional ESPecially for Kids Award A udrey Cunneely greets every child that walks into her office at Booth/ Fickett Magnet with a smile, because not every child may get a smile that day. She creates a positive atmosphere in her school. She makes sure every child is given the time to tell what is going on with them whether it might be a small scratch or a severe allergic reaction. For over 23 years, she has helped many students with everything from small scrapes to broken bones. Sometimes it is as simple as teaching a child to blow their nose or to tie their own shoe laces. This facilitates the educational process for the teachers. Audrey is an active leader in her local association, state association, and national association. She currently serves as the Tucson EA treasurer, the AEA ESP Director At-Large, and a graduate of the NEA Leaders for Tomorrow program. In addition to her dedication to her school, her students, and her association, Audrey coordinates the collection of "Pop Tops" for the Ronald McDonald House. She does this as a role model to teach the children selflessness through community services. As the 2018 ESPecially for Kids recipient, Audrey Cunneely is a role model for us all. AEA honors an exceptional education support professional with the "ESPecially for Kids" Award, which recognizes a classified employee for "extraordinary efforts on behalf of young people."
