from the editor contributors The lazy days of Summer are finally here! Remember back to those long, hot Summers when the school year finished, and you could just hang out, read a book, ride your bike, go swimming, forget your worries? Where will you go this year? What will you do during these precious few months? Let's all take a wee bit of time this summer to just enjoy and RELAX! This issue we asked this very question to a few of our talented writers: "Do you have any special plans this Summer or a favorite recollection from Summers gone by?" William Stout (Pg. 20) For me, summer means conventions. I make appearances at comic book, horror, and sci-fi conventions all over the country. Comic-Con Internation- al (San Diego) and Dragon Con (Atlanta) are my two biggies. Being an artist is a solitary job, so it's nice to get out once in a while and meet my fans while seeing old friends. My favorite summer recollections are the post-convention family vacations I planned that took us all over the world. Oh joy, summer is upon us again… life's per- mission slip to lay idle in the grass watching clouds go by. Days when it is respectable to devote the day to overripe peaches needing to be eaten or put in a pie. The luxurious nights in short sleeves, the wonder of the sun setting and moon rising, meeting each other midway. If summer doesn't awaken your imagination, the only rem- edy is to jump in a cold lake and ponder your potential while you dry under the hot sun. Wendy Strgar (Pg. 13) The solstice marks the onset of summer, the longest day, and my favorite time to take a pause to celebrate the mystical magic that you create! My life is a snow globe of all things creative — the 3Ms — Mentor, Muse, and Mother of three sons in a rock band, manag- ing, developing artists, touring, producing, creating content, designing, writing, photogra- phy, and philanthropy. Every day is about making happy, positive imprints on this earth! Stephanie Rachel (Pg. 16) This summer I really hope to get back to basics and fi nd some time to relax and enjoy nature. When we were kids, summer break forced us to get creative with our time and dis- cover who we were outside of school and youthful responsibilities. Now, with our work-focused society, we have to make an effort to decompress and invest in the im- portant things, like time with family and friends. Neal Broverman (Pg. 23 ) Reader Melissa Cohen pointed out that we made a mistake in the April/May issue of What Counts. Then she accused us of touting "fake news." Well Melissa, the source was Scientifi c Reports from Nature. com, as we noted. We were not intentionally making up facts — it was simply a typo and we apologize. We mistakenly wrote that the Great Pacifi c Garbage Patch was 994 Million square miles. Whether 994 million, 994 miles, or even just 9 inches, any plastic in the ocean is too much. Kudos again to Malibu for outlawing plastic straws beginning June 1st! Apologies to OLD BULL LEE Clothing Company for listing the incorrect website. We are all big fans of William Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, and the Beat Writers (especially the women Beats!) and it was an oversight on our part. It was fi xed in our digital edition and the correct link is www.oldbullshorts.com. Write to us! Thanks! editor@wholelifemagazine.com JUST THE FACTS, JACK 6 wholelifetimes.com Greetings Dearest Readers! It's Summer! Finally!
