As usual, the Post editorial team walked the show floor, met with vendors and attendees, and sought out the newest and most interesting new products, technologies and solutions for our an- nual Post Picks awards and Honorable Mentions (beginning page 12). In addition, Post TV was in full swing, this year streaming live to Post's Facebook page. Here, in our "NAB Rewind" report, we offer some highlights of some of the coolest stuff, emerging technologies and what generated some of the biggest buzz on the show floor. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY At least two industry leaders celebrated mile- stones at this year's show — ATTO (www.atto. com), a company well-entrenched in the IT and media & entertainment markets, specializing in storage and network connectivity and infra- structure solutions for data-intensive computing environments is celebrating its 30 year anniver- sary. The company showcased its extensive line of storage and network connectivity products in workflow demonstrations, including ATTO brand ThunderLink Thunderbolt adapters, Celerity Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), XstreamCORE Storage Controllers, ExpressSAS/ SATA HBAs and RAID Adapters and FastFrame Ethernet Network Interface Cards (NICs). Telestream (www.telestream.net), which provides live and on-demand digital video tools, workflow solutions and quality monitoring capa- bilities that allow consumers and businesses to transform video on the desktop and across the enterprise, marked its 20th year in the industry at this year's show. While Telestream has been innovative in the digital video industry, pioneer- ing file-based video transcoding and high-quality media exchange over IP networks for the past two decades, the company continues to look ahead. On Post TV, Scott Murray, the company's VP of product management, discussed signifi- cant enhancements to Telestream's Avid integra- tion in the latest version of Vantage. FOUNDRY ROLLS OUT ATHERA In a meeting off the show floor, Foundry (www. foundry.com) spoke with Post about its partner- ship with Google Cloud for a new visual effects cloud offering — Athera — that's coming soon to the post community. Known in beta as Project Elara, the company feels that Athera is poised to transform visual effects (VFX) workflows. According to Craig Rodgerson, CEO at Foundry, "Google Cloud's capabilities provide Foundry with the infrastructure needed to scale up Athera and realize our goal of providing an end-to-end cloud services solution for VFX studios everywhere." Athera will be hosted on Google Cloud Platform, incorporating Google's GPU, networking and storage capabilities. It enables VFX studios and freelancers to move their entire pipeline into the cloud.
