Bits & Pieces Dell debuts mobile workstation R AudioEngine’s (www.audioengine.net) Bob Giammarco handled sound duties for a new documentary that focuses on musician/Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and his Arizona wine-making operation. Blood Into Wine(pictured) was shot by Phoenix-based True Story Films and directors Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke. Using Digidesign Pro Tools, Giammarco handled all the ADR and Foley sessions, completing the entire project in just over one week. OUND ROCK,TX— Dell (www.dell.com) has introduced a new 15.6-inch mobile worksta- tion, the Precision M4500.The unit offers a 64GB SSD MiniCard for additional high-performance data storage. It also features user selectable thermal tables that enable better performance in turbo mode, along with extended battery life. Dell’s “On Technology” allows users to have a quick boot up (five to 10 seconds) and gives them read- only access to email, calendar, con- tacts, the Internet and virtual remote desktops. The M4500 weighs six pounds and offers support for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Win- dows 7,Vista, XP and Red Hat Linux 5.3 64-bit. Op- tions include Intel Core i7-920XM Quad Core Ex- treme Edition, Core i7 and Core i5 processors linked with fast 1066MHz and 1333MHz memory; Nvidia Quadro FX 1800M or Quadro FX 880M graphics with 1GB of dedicated memory; an HD+ sRGB LED 15.6- inch screen with 100 percent user selectable color gamut support; a 3 megapixel camera; and Gobi 2.0 mobile broadband support. The M4500 offers compatibility and optimized performance on 95 applications from vendors such as Autodesk and Schlum- berger. It will be available in the coming weeks.
