SPRING 2018 | ADVOCATE 31 Association Governance importance to me. I am passionate and extremely dedicated to this cause both at the local level and state level. Mark DeGrow I've been an active member of AEA for 30+ years, serving as local president, bargaining rep, and on the AEA Board of Directors. As your District C delegate to the NEA-RA, I will advocate for the needs of Arizona teachers and education support professionals in this vital decision-making process. Election District D Joe Thomas I have been an active participant in past Representative Assemblies by bringing a local voice to national discussions. Now serving as your AEA President, I would appreciate your vote so I can help inform, organize, and lead the delegation from the floor at the 2018 NEA-RA. Election District E – 2 Delegates April Coleman I am April Coleman, Region 3 Director for AEA, and would be honored to represent you at the 2018 NEA RA. I've have served as your voice in several RA caucus meetings and forums, and your vote will allow me to continue the work that has been started. Thanks! Vanessa Jimenez No statement submitted. Catherine Barrett My educational career began in 2001, my first year I was honored to earn the Silver Apple. Using a bipartisan approach in teaching, advocating continually for upgrades locally to policies and procedures. I am a full-time classroom teacher, Professional Development Specialist. Completing Teacher Leadership Institute project. Resha Gentry-Ballance I am the President of the Phoenix Union High School District's Classroom Teachers' Association and would love the opportunity to represent you in Minneapolis this summer at the NEA Representative Assembly. I greatly appreciate your vote - thanks! Election District F Heather Schmitt I would be honored to represent our members at the NEA-RA this summer. Currently, I am a proud special education teacher, Treasurer of PVEA, and Region 4 Alternate Director. I am committed to fighting for Arizona's students and educators at the local, state, and national level. Election District G Jennifer Dwosh As your regional delegate to the NEA-RA, I will represent your voice on educational issues. This past year I have served as an Alternate Director for Region 6 and for the past four years I have been elected as an Executive Board member for the Madison District CTA. Estevan Carreon Past positions: Glendale Union EA president, AEA Regional Director, AEA Compliance and Review Chair, NEA Resolutions Committee, NEA Director, NEA RA Regional Delegate. Current positions: GUEA Professional Negotiations, special education teacher, Unitown / Anytown director, parent. Other: US Navy veteran, former coach of Special Olympics, swim, and cheer. Election District H Marisol Garcia As your AEA Vice President, I will be proud to represent AEA at this year's NEA RA. I look forward to bringing the voices of Arizona teachers and ESP's to a national stage. I promise to continue to energize, organize and lead this summer. I ask for your continued support. Election District K Derek Born Brothers and sisters of AEA, it would be an honor and a privilege to represent you at this year's Representative Assembly. I feel passionate about the work AEA has been doing as we gear up, once again, for the most important election of our lifetimes. Dennis Michalski WE are the Association. In serving as an advocate at the local, state and national levels for several years, I feel that I can be a sound choice to convey our common voice about concerns facing Arizona at this year's NEA-RA. I have been elected TEA President, NEA Board Representative, and as a delegate to the AEA Delegate Assembly and NEA Representative Assembly for each of my 18 years in teaching. Emily Freed For the past 10 years I have had the honor of representing you at the AEA Delegate Assembly, the NEA Representative Assembly, and as an Association Representative.
