ince 2015, local association members
have participated in AEA Organizing
Institute to learn about building local
power through organizing. The most
recent Institute was held this past January
in Phoenix.
Local associations send teams of
members to learn organizing theories
and skills, including using data driven
relationship mapping, how to have
one-on-one conversations, leadership
identification, and real world field
experience. The two-day session is led by
AEA staff and local leaders.
The AEA Organizing Institute is funded
through an a grant with the National
Education Association and has helped
locals across the state transform how
they approach the work of engaging and
growing their membership.
